Frequently Asked Questions
Aunty is the first babysitting app in Singapore that screens and conducts checks before our sitters get listed. In addition to that, we created the app with your privacy in mind, so you do not have to advertise your personal info on public FB groups or web portals. We are also the only babysitting app in Singapore that does not charge a booking fee! We want to ensure that reliable babysitters can be accessible to as many parents as possible. Our sitters are committed to be there for your child throughout the duration of the scheduled booking. If you decide to release our sitter earlier than the scheduled end time of the sit, please reach out to 9755 1350 or message Aunty via the app. Please note that there will be no fee revisions made in lieu of a shortened sit. Service fees will remain the same as the original booked duration. Aunty is free to download and to start an account. Hourly rates for hiring a sitter are displayed in each sitter’s profile. For parents, other than the hourly rate agreed with the sitter, there are no additional charges. Running an app would have its fair share of expenses, so we charge sitters a small percentage for using the platform. In the future, we hope to give incentives to our active and best performing sitters. Parents can separately tip a sitter they like after the job is completed. After the parent enters the details for a booking, he/she can send up to 5 requests to available sitters. Parents are also able to send requests to their favourite sitters (have to be engaged before to be saved as a favourite). At the same time, the job becomes visible to other sitters who can also apply to it. Parent and sitter would be able to chat if: 1. The request sent by the parent is accepted by the sitter 2. Or if the parent wants to engage a sitter that has applied to the job Chat remains open until the end of the job. It will automatically close if there is no response after 24 hours or if the request has been rejected. These are our “trending” sitters who are responsive and have good reviews. If you are unable to find a suitable one and are flexible on the date/time of the Sit, then you can send a request to sitters under “Explore” and book according to the sitter’s availability instead. Sitters apply by submitting an application form which includes details such as their NRIC, certifications (if any). We will do up to two reference checks and we check with parents they’ve helped before. When parents are selecting a sitter, we encourage them to interview to get to know the sitter better and read his/her reviews before making an informed decision. We do our best to allow only the best people on the platform. However, as Sitters are independent contractors/freelancers and home-based care arrangements are also generally more informal or small-scale (compared to centre-based care), please only confirm the booking when you are comfortable with your sitter. In the event that your sitter is late, please try calling him/her. If it has been more than 15 minutes and there isn’t any response, please select ‘Cancel’ in the Booking in Progress and indicate that your ‘sitter did not show up’ as the reason for cancellation. We take a very serious approach for no-show sitters and cancellations initiated with less than 2 hours notice for a non-emergency. When a sitter is confirmed, we add the sit to their phone calendar and send text message reminders 24 hours and 3 hours prior to the sit. We also emphasize the importance of arriving on time and the need for communication. If you require any help or customer support, please write to us at hello@aunty.sg. We are here to help! Sometimes things don’t always go as planned and we understand if you need to cancel. In the event that you need to cancel, we kindly request that you give your sitter as much as notice as possible. Our recommendation is at least 24 hours notice so that they can have the opportunity to change their plans as well. There will be no charges to the parent in the event the sitter cancels. If you cancel less than 24 hours before a booking starts you will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to 1 hour of sitter’s rate. This way sitters can still be compensated for their time. If you cancel, a refund will be given as credits in the form of a cash voucher. Aunty does not automatically process refunds to your payment provider after an order’s cancellation. Please refrain from doing so as booking via Aunty outlines the agreed service scope and payment terms. Most importantly, we provide the appropriate support when conflict resolution is required. Your feedback on a sitter also helps other parents make an informed decision. Sitters cannot request cash or any other form of payment made outside of the app. Doing so will result in removal from the platform. Any outside arrangement will be against our agreed terms & conditions. After 11PM and before 6am, kindly reimburse at least $10 for the taxi surcharge or the full taxi fare in order for your sitter to get home safe.
1) You need to be Singaporean/PR. We do not accept long term visit passes, NS applicants and foreigners. 2) You need to have ibanking and DBS PayLah! Visit your mobile application stores to download the apps. 3) All Aunty sitters have to be 18 and above. If you are below 18, you would need to fill in a parental/guardian consent agreement. The chat will automatically close if parent has not responded after 24 hours. You can apply to other jobs in the meantime. The booking that is first mutually accepted will take precedence. We conduct reference checks on our sitters before onboarding them onto the platform. These references are mostly from families who have employed the sitter before, and they will have the best understanding of his/her habits, personality, approach to discipline, and so on. When we call a sitter’s references, we explain that he/she has given them as a reference in his/her search for a childcare-related job, and ask if it would be okay to ask some questions. Here are some questions we ask: Do your kids like her? Did he/she ever arrive late or miss a babysitting job? If you were to rate her from (1-5), 5 being excellent, how would you rate her? We also ask for general feedback/comments – this is information that will help parents with their search. While we keep records of the full reference check, we include this under the sitter’s reviews. We are on a semimonthly payroll, meaning sitters get paid twice a month. On the 15th and the last day of the month. Please refrain from doing so as booking via Aunty outlines the agreed service scope and payment terms. Most importantly, we provide the appropriate support when conflict resolution is required. Sitters cannot request cash or any other form of payment made outside of the app. Doing so will result in removal from the platform. Any outside arrangement will be against our agreed terms & conditions.
